Privacy Policy

What we collect

The link you submit. It is sent to our server so we can read the post's public metadata. The resolved metadata — caption, username, media URLs, dimensions — is held in memory for a short period (ten minutes by default) so that repeating the same lookup does not hit Threads again. It is never written to a database or to disk, and it disappears when the cache entry expires or the server restarts.

Request metadata. Standard web-server information: IP address, user agent, timestamp, and the path requested. Your IP address is used to enforce the per-address rate limit that keeps the service available. We do not build profiles from it and do not sell or share it.

What we do not collect

• No account, email address, or password — there is nothing to sign up for.
• No downloaded media. Files stream through and are never stored.
• No analytics. We run no analytics or tracking scripts of our own. The only third-party script on the site is Google's ad code, described under Advertising below.
• No clipboard contents. The Paste button reads your clipboard locally in your browser only when you press it; that value is only submitted if you run a lookup.

Advertising

The site shows ads served by Google AdSense, which is how it is paid for. Google decides which ads appear and where. We do not choose the advertisers.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or to other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Other ad networks and vendors certified by Google may also serve ads here and use their own cookies. Google publishes the list of certified vendors.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google in Google's Ads Settings. To opt out of personalised ads from many other vendors, visit aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. Opting out does not remove ads. You still see them, but they are no longer based on your interests.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can change that choice later from the "Privacy and cookie settings" link Google adds to the page for those visitors.

Our code never sends the link you paste or the files you download to Google. Lookups and downloads go only to our own server. A link opened from an address such as /?url=… is removed from the page address before the ad code loads, so it is not part of the page address Google's ad requests carry. How Google uses information from sites that show its ads is explained on Google's partner sites page.

Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies of our own. Google's ad code sets the following. These are the names observed on this site in October 2026; Google changes them from time to time.

• __gads, __gpi and __eoi, on this site's domain. Used by Google to serve ads and measure how they perform.
• FCCDCF and FCNEC, on this site's domain. Set by Google's privacy and messaging tool, which shows the consent message and remembers your choices.
• IDE, on Google's ad domain doubleclick.net. Used by Google to serve ads, including personalised ones.

In your browser's localStorage, our own code writes one value: your light or dark theme preference. It never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Google's ad code also stores its own settings there, google_adsense_settings and google_ama_config, which it uses to decide how ads are placed on the page.

Google's cookie policy explains how it uses cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The downloader works without them.

Third parties

To fetch a post, our server contacts Threads (Meta Platforms, Inc.) on your behalf. Your browser does not contact Meta directly during a download, so no referrer or browser fingerprint of yours reaches them through this tool. Meta sees a request from our server, not from you. Their handling of that request is governed by their own privacy policy.

Thumbnail images shown in the results are loaded by your browser directly from Meta's CDN with a no-referrer policy. If you would rather avoid that connection entirely, blocking images for this site does not affect downloads.

Google serves the ads, as described under Advertising above, and handles that data under its own privacy policy.

Data retention

• Resolved post metadata: in memory only, ~10 minutes.
• Media files: never retained. Streamed, not stored.
• Rate-limit counters: in memory, cleared each window.
• Server access logs: retained only as long as the hosting provider's default, for security and abuse investigation.
• Ad cookies: set and controlled by Google, which decides how long they last. Clearing your cookies removes them.

Your rights

Because we hold no account data, there is generally nothing for us to export or delete on request. Data collected through Google's ad cookies is held by Google, not by us; you can manage it through Google's Ads Settings or your Google account. If you believe a specific piece of information about you is held here, contact us and we will investigate and remove it where it exists.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
